flip, flick, ‘n switch – Exercise 2
16 02 20101. The biggest problem with this project was deciding how much of each step in the process to show. We wanted to keep it within the time requirements of the assignments, but we also wanted it to be comprehensive for a viewer of any background.
2. The biggest success of the project was the teamwork by Claire and me to complete the project. We equally participated in each aspect of the assignment and contributed helpful ideas to its final product. During the actual shoot, we found the camera easy to use and we were not overly concerned about lighting…which helped.
3. This project inspired more detail oriented how-to videos with regard to setting up and putting on a production in the television studio. Claire, Negin, Jarrett, WAKE TV’s current people, etc. will not always be around to run things, therefore it is important to help people learn how to operate different pieces of equipment. These instructional videos help tremendously with that.
4. We wanted the video to be both instructional and entertaining. We tried to add some artistic pizazz to it by illustrating through timing how frustration can affect a studio operator. If you’ll notice, some portions of the video seem awkwardly slow and others seem quick. This was designed to reflect what actually happens during a real production – sometimes things go really smoothly and quickly, and other times are highly frustrating and time-consuming.
